In case you missed it, one week ago today, I predicted the outcome of the 2012 Super Bowl.

Probably like most of you, I didn’t get to watch the game, but this morning I see that the Giants won by four.

I had predicted a Giants victory by three.

Saturday, February 4th, 2012, is date night for moms and sons at many Chick-fil-A restaurants. But only one of those restaurants will have Tony the Balloon Guy on hand to entertain the happy couples with fantabulous balloon art and perhaps a little juggling…

As a professional fortune teller, I feel I have a duty to my friends and other readers of this blog: to tell you who will win the Super Bowl on Sunday…

Ordinarily, I do upbeat, fun readings with Tarot cards, runes and/or palms, but today I’m going to just go with the old clairvoyant method of getting an image of the game in my mind and seeing who wins.

One of our birthday parties this weekend was face-painting-only, so I (Tony the Balloon Guy) wasn’t there.

Afterward, daughter asked Face Painter Phyllis, “Did you get to paint things you like?”

Face Painter Phyllis said she painted a lot of cupcakes, a lot of milkshakes, a few butterflies, and a strip of bacon.

• You can pay an agent, party/event planner, total entertainment company, or other middleman a commission on each entertainer they hire for you. Even if they refer to “our face painters” or “our balloon artists,” they are charging you to hire someone. Of course, in this modern Internet Age, you could hire entertainers yourself and NOT pay commissions. Many of our (Tony the Balloon Guy’s and Face Painter Phyllis‘) weekends consist of a lot of driving to birthday parties and other special events, as we have provided entertainment everywhere from Jacksonville to Lake Placid, Fla.

Even farther if you count my time as an international balloon artist aboard Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship in the world!

Mostly, though, we work in the smaller triangle that includes Orlando, Tampa Bay and Sarasota.

This weekend, we have plenty of parties, and they are all in Spring Hill, a little town near Brooksville, north of Tampa and west of Orlando. It also happens to be VERY near our little home in the woods!

Hardly ANY driving, relatively speaking.

The newly-six-year-old girl didn’t want a super-giant birthday hat at the restaurant, so I (Tony the Balloon Guy) spent  ten minutes or so making her a super-giant birthday puppy instead. She and her family LOVED it.

A little while later, I slipped off my balloon apron, left it in a booth at the back of the restaurant, and went to the kitchen to get a soda.

On my way back to my balloons, I saw the birthday girl sitting with Face Painter Phyllis. I stopped and sang the happy-birthday song, finishing up, “… happy birthday, dear Amelia, happy birthday to you!”

Amelia stared at me a few moments, and finally asked, “Who ARE you???”

Because I wasn’t wearing my balloons!

I told her I was the balloon guy, and we laughed. When I had my balloons back on and saw her a little while later back with her family, she exclaimed, “You ARE the balloon guy!”

Maybe that Clark Kent/Superman glasses thing isn’t so crazy after all.

On the other hand, if I wear my old beat-up clothes to make a quick run to the grocery store, unshaven and looking my worst, sure enough there will always be some kid to say, “Look, Mom, it’s the balloon guy!!!”

Maybe it’s because Amelia had JUST met me, while some of those other kids have seen me over and over at restaurants, birthday parties and other events.

Funny, anyway.
